You’re able to change the capitalization of your display name (like switching between upper- and lowercase letters), but you can’t change the name itself.
This is for your safety and security. Here’s why: imagine someone is harassing you. You report them by their display name, since that’s how you identify them. If people could freely change their names, that person could just switch to a new one — and we’d have no way of knowing it was the same account. That would make it nearly impossible to protect you or take action.
So, keeping display names fixed ensures reports are accurate and helps us keep the community safe.
